5 Ways To Create The Life You Want

You’re unhappy but you spend more time ruminating then taking action. If you are tired of feeling stuck and uninspired, it’s time to take control and focus on creating the life that you truly want.

5 Ways To Start Creating The Life That You Want

Here are the 5 steps you need to take to kickstart your journey:

#1 Making the commitment to focus on your growth.

For the past 4 weeks I’ve committed to start my week with a 7am Monday morning Crossfit session. At first it was difficult to motivate myself on Monday mornings (especially after a weekend of socialisation) but I realised that the routine set me up for success for the rest of the week. By not giving myself any excuses I foster a sense of discipline, motivation and the inner confidence that I can do hard things. If we want to have the best life possible, we need to CREATE our best life by starting with small steps that create a ripple effect in our lives.

#2 Let go of beliefs and expectations that hold you back.

Growing up I held so many beliefs that I thought were “truths”:

  • I am only rich if I have the 5Cs - cash, condo, credit card, car and country club membership

  • I will be happy if I get married, buy a flat and have children

  • I need to work for a stable employer for financial security

  • I shouldn’t do anything that will upset my parents

  • I am only beautiful if I am skinny

Over the years I’ve let go of several of these beliefs because they had led me down paths that I’ve struggled with a lot and did not feel true to me. I am still struggling with many aspects of my old belief systems that have been ingrained in me either through the culture that I’ve grown up with or the society that I live in. However everyday I am learning to gently push through the fear of letting go while learning to embrace new beliefs that help me grow into MYSELF.

#3 Set goals based on what you want to experience in your life, without worrying about the how.

I’ve always shied away from setting big goals because I didn’t know how to achieve them and was afraid that I would get disappointed if I failed. The reality is - we can never reach goals that we don’t set. We will never live the life that we want without aiming towards it. Law of Attraction suggests that if you focus on what you want, the Universe will start to shift and show you the how. Opportunities will appear and things will come your way.

So don't worry too much about how you’re going to achieve your goals. We only have one life. Set the goals that make you feel alive, and your passion will drive your forward to take small steps towards it every day.

Instead of having limiting goals like losing weight, getting a promotion etc or playing small in fear of disappointment, I’m setting big goals that really matter:

  • A life of abundance with no concerns about money or opportunities.

  • A career that is not just a job but a mission that allows me to help as many people as possible.

  • To live in a place surrounded by nature and makes me feel connected and grounded.

#4 Know your WHY

What people don’t talk about is how hard it gets when you are working towards a goal like starting your own business, taking part in a marathon etc. Things are going to get hard. You may lose confidence. You may feel deflated. You start questioning yourself if it’s time to give up.

So it’s  critical to know your WHY. WHY are you doing all this for? Your WHY must be so compelling to you that when you are at your lowest point, you can go back to your WHY and it gives you the motivation to pick yourself up and keep going.

Your WHY is the reason you don’t give up. What is your WHY?

#5 Don’t do it alone

Often we get stressed because we think we have to figure everything out ourselves, or that we have to do everything on our own. But the reality is that the people around us can help, if we allow them to.

The question is, why aren’t you asking for help? What’s stopping you for seeking help?

In the past months I’ve worked with several people who have decided that the status quo is no longer enough and that they need to start owning their lives. There is a lot of fear, anxiety and overwhelm when we start taking that first step, but everyone of them experienced tremendous growth and achieved results beyond their expectations.

If you are thinking of making a significant life or career change, send me a message and let’s discuss a roadmap that will help you navigate the transition, without stress and anxiety.
